Bhai Kanh Singh Ji Nabha writes about the Singh Sabha on page 145 of his book ‘Gurshabd Ratnakar Mahan Kosh’ – “Singh Sabha Sangaya – a reforming group of Amritdhari Singha, whose purpose is to remove the evils that have come into the Sikh religion and Sikh society. The real standard of religion is to be established. The first Sri Guru Singh Sabha for the propagation of religion and education was established in Bunge Sammat 404 (Bikrami 1928) of Majithia in Amritsar, whose president was Sardar Thaker Singh was a Sandhawalia. Guru Ka Bagh was fixed as the meeting place of the assembly.”
